GMEA Events

GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association) is our state music organization.  It is a state affiliate of NAfME (The National Association for Music Education).

GMEA sponsors several events for the enrichment of band students:

• Solo & Ensemble Evaluation

• District Honor Bands weekend

• All-State Bands weekend

• LGPE: Large Group Performance Evaluation

• Jazz Band Evaluation

GMEA In-Service Conference

As part of GMEA’s annual in-service, bands are chosen from a blind recorded audition to perform as “demonstration bands” for our state’s music educators.  The Hightower Trail Band has been invited to perform 4 times:

• 2004 – Low Brass Ensemble

• 2008 – 8th Grade Symphonic Band

• 2012 – 8th Grade Symphonic Band

• 2018 – 8th Grade Symphonic Band
