Clarinet

The Clarinet is a “single reed” instrument and is one of the most (if not THE most) important instrument in the band! It creates sound when the reed vibrates on a mouthpiece. This is typically our most popular instrument and biggest section.

Physical Characteristics

The clarinet embouchure (mouth position) requires students to make a “flat chin”. The vast majority of students can do this; we’ll help them. :)

Other Considerations

When purchasing or renting, please e-mail us to ensure you are getting a quality, reputable name brand. Clarinet players are also responsible for maintaining a working stock of 4-6 quality reeds. After some time on the Soprano ("Bb") Clarinet, students have an opportunity to play Bass Clarinet.
