HTMS Band Program

The Hightower Trail Middle School Band is the primary feeder for the award-winning Pope High School Band, and has produced outstanding musicians since the school opened in 1993. The Band program consists of over 336 students in grades 6-8.

Band students consistently achieve Superior (I) ratings at GMEA District 12 Solo & Ensemble Evaluation, Band Evaluation (LGPE), and Jazz Band Evaluation. Band students also consistently earn chairs in GMEA District Honor Bands and All-State Bands.

Classes rehearse for 50 minutes daily. In 6th grade, students are placed in like-instrument classes. By 8th grade, students are grouped by ability level in full bands.

Extracurricular opportunities include our Night of the Arts ensembles: Flute Choir, Clarinet Choir, Double Reed Ensemble, Low Brass Ensemble, 7th Grade Jazz Band, 8th Grade Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Directors are available for help sessions in the mornings (8-9 am) and afternoons (until 5 pm).
