LGPE: Large Group Performance Evaluation
Band
LGPE
(Large
Group
Performance
Evaluation)
is
a
GMEA
sponsored event where 7th and 8th grade bands are
evaluated on their musical performance and sight reading
abilities. This is the most
important band performance of the year - our "Band CRCT".
1)
Stage
Performance
A panel of three
judges provides insightful comments and an overall grade
(I = Superior,
II = Excellent, III = Good, IV = Fair, V = Poor). Our
district also provides
three section evaluators (woodwind, brass,
percussion) and a conductor evaluator.
2)
Clinic
Parents - follow us from
the stage to the clinic/sight-reading room. Students are
treated to a session with a widely respected band
director. This clinician can offer immediate feedback and tips
for the students; a fun and educational
experience.
3)
Sight-Reading
The band is issued a piece that neither the students
nor directors
have seen, and reads it at sight for a sight-reading judge (I =
Superior, II = Excellent, III = Good, IV = Fair, V = Poor).
4)
Watching
Other
Bands
An important part of the learning process is watching other
bands. Depending on our performance time, we will watch bands
either
before
warm-up or after sight-reading.
