GMEA Events

GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association) is our state music organization.
It is a state affiliate of MENC (The National Association for Music Education).

GMEA sponsors several events for the enrichment of band students:
    - Solo & Ensemble Festival
    - District Honor Band Weekend
    - All-State Band Weekend
    - LGPE: Large Group Performance Evaluation
    - Jazz Band Performance Evaluation

GMEA In-Service Conference
As part of GMEA's annual in-service, bands are chosen from a blind taped audition to perform as "demonstration groups" for the state's music educators. The Hightower Trail Band has been invited to perform three times:
    2004 - Low Brass Ensemble
    2008 - 8th Grade Symphonic Band
    2012 - 8th Grade Symphonic Band
